George Ketry couldn’t help but blame himself for a crucial mistake that could’ve cost his beloved pet’s life.
The Louisiana native had to go on a quick errand and stopped in front of a hardware store. He had his pet, a disabled senior dog named Rainey, inside his truck at that time. As he would be in and out of the shop, he decided to keep his vehicle running and keep the dog warm inside.
But even though he took only a few minutes to dash in and get something, it was enough time for a heartless man to steal his truck. Although he had a lot of valuable stuff inside his vehicle, he was more worried about his dog.
Wheelchair
According to George, his senior pooch has lost movement on his rear legs and uses a wheelchair to get around. Knowing that the helpless dog is out there without him made him terrified. The thought of never seeing his pet again was hard for him and his family.
The dog owner quickly reported the incident to the authorities and shared his story online. He asked people for help locating his truck and, more importantly, his dog. Later that day, his vehicle was found abandoned in New Orleans, but his dog was not inside. George was even more worried.
Good Samaritan
Apparently, someone found Rainey in the middle of the road. Without his wheelchair, he couldn’t move to the side. Thankfully, he didn’t get into an accident. The person who found the disabled dog took him to the Louisiana Humane Society, who then got in touch with George.
The dog owner was ecstatic to hear that his special needs pet was fine and waiting for him. George quickly went to pick him up and was so grateful that he offered to give a reward to the person who found his dog. The man graciously declined and said to give it to someone who needed it.
The authorities are still looking for the person who stole the truck and left the dog in danger.
