Adam Grimpo, a teenage boy living in Ohio, had always wanted to have a dog of his own ever since he was 3 years old. But his mom wasn’t going to just give it to him. After all, owning a dog is a big responsibility and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Nine years later, his parents finally decided that they should gift him with a dog on his 12th birthday. On the day of the celebration, they decided to tease him a bit by gifting some weird toys first before the actual dog.
The sweet video starts with Adam unwrapping some birthday presents. As he unwraps the gifts from his mom, he finds it odd that she gave him some silly gifts: a squishy orange basketball dog toy and a walkie-talkie dog toy. You can definitely sense it through his eyes and his smile that he was quite puzzled. Why would he need dog toys when he doesn’t even own one?
Little does Adam know that his dad is behind him, walking towards him with another present wrapped around his arms. He turns around and sees dad carrying something covered with a blanket.
What could it be? When Adam figured out what it was, his jaw completely drops. It’s an adorable puppy!
Both mom and dad greet him with a happy birthday as Adam cries tears of joy. He places his hand right over his heart and then takes a couple of steps back. He just can’t believe that he is now a proud dog owner.
He then pets his new black Portuguese and golden retriever mix puppy, and names him Weller. His lifelong dream of getting a dog has finally been fulfilled.
The video ended up going viral worldwide and the Grimpos said they were overwhelmed by the tons of responses it got. Adam’s emotional reaction to the unexpected gift had more than 30 million people in tears within just two days.
