Monster is a Pit Bull that completely adores the sea. Every day, she would join his dad, a shrimp boat captain named Kieth Soffes, to catch shrimp in the sea near San Leon, Texas. They would wake up early and do the half-hour drive from their home in Galveston, then spend the day catching shrimp and cruising the bay.
When they go home, the dog would play and frolic by the shore while Kieth cleans his boat. This always brings a smile to the dog dad’s face as the scene combines the two things he loved the most in his life.
Dog gone
While out on their usual shrimping trip, Kieth noticed that Monster was nowhere to be seen. They were already five miles off the coast by then. The worried dog owner searched his boat thoroughly, and when he didn’t find her, he started circling the sea. He went up and down the coast for hours, but Monster was gone.
Kieth concluded that the dog must have fallen off the boat, but he didn’t know where. He started hoping that someone had picked his pet up. He went to Facebook to ask others if they had seen his pooch and to please keep an eye out for her.
Trailer park
For the next five days, Kieth didn’t stop looking for Monster. And then, he received a call from a stranger. A woman told him that she saw a dog that could be Monster. He was in a trailer park, tied next to another pup.
Kieth initially thought that it might not be his dog. It was too far away from where he lost Monster. Nevertheless, he went to the location to check. Sure enough, his pet was there.
The trailer owner said he saw the dog walking and took her home. Monster probably swam for miles to reach the shore and wandered around. The countless hours she spent swimming and playing by the beach saved her life.
