One day, Fulton County Animal Services received a call from a concerned citizen about a puppy in their yard that appears burned. When the shelter came to its aid a few minutes after, they discovered that the little puppy had a case of severe mange. They realized later on that the puppy doesn’t have burns. Her “burned appearance” is because of the scratches she makes that resulted in scabs and sores all over her body.
The little puppy, later named Pixie, is about six weeks old and four pounds. No one knew her backstory, but she suffers malnourishment and certainly needs love. Daphne Braggs, a happy foster and volunteer from the shelter, is more than glad to help Pixie’s fast recovery.
Daphne happened to like dogs such as Pixie because she has a dog named Elliot, who had the same unfortunate story before. He was a stray puppy as well, who got speedy recovery and love from Daphne and her dogs. Together with Elliot and the other dogs, they helped the little puppy recover. They taught Pixie social skills as well since she’s still a little puppy.
For six weeks, Pixie gradually showed significant progress and eventually made a full recovery under Daphne’s care. The little puppy is now a candidate for adoption.
“She was definitely a [tough] one to give up, but being able to watch that transformation, really makes fostering worth it,” Daphne revealed. The shelter found the perfect family for Pixie eventually.
Our little puppy now lives its life with her forever family. It is a good thing the concerned citizen called the shelter immediately because if not for him or her, Pixie wouldn’t be where she’s at currently.
