Although it started on the wrong footing, a rescue story in Humboldt County in California yielded a happy ending. The rescue story involved a senior dog later named Banks whose owner recently passed away after taking his life. Before the owner did the sad deed, he left the pup inside his car.
A woman who visited Humboldt County noticed the abandoned vehicle on the side of the road and saw a dog inside. The first thing that came to the woman’s mind was to lend a helping hand to the pup. However, the vehicle was locked, so she reported the incident instead to the local police.
Members of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office responded to the woman’s report and went to the site. The officers immediately freed the poor dog and brought him to the nearest veterinary clinic to get medical help. When they were ascertained about the dog’s safety, they began their investigation on the vehicle.
The investigation found out what happened to the dog’s previous owner, so the officers felt bad about what is to happen to the dog. Since they do not know where to bring the dog, the officers contacted the local animal shelter.
When the Humboldt County Animal Shelter’s volunteers heard about Banks, they took the dog under their care. Fortunately, during that time, a woman named Meredith Maier was looking for a dog to adopt. Meredith owns the Six Rivers Brewery, a local dog-friendly restaurant.
Meredith seeks to adopt a dog to make a difference in the life of that dog. When Meredith heard about what happened to Banks, she did not think twice about adopting the pup. The woman immediately processed all the needed documents and took the dog home. Meredith promised that she would transform the life of Banks to the best of her ability.
