Dog rescue operations can be very time-sensitive missions. There’s no telling what could happen to a stray dog if they are not rescued immediately. This is why many rescuers are used to thinking on their feet and finding creative rescue solutions to allow the success of their operations.
One animal rescue team in Korea had been tracking two hairless dogs for a few days. They believe that those dogs were victims of abuse. This means that they’re likely to avoid rescues out of fear.
When the rescuers arrived at the location, something unprecedented happened. The dogs were not in their usual hiding place. The team had to ask around whether anyone in the area had seen the dogs.
After talking to a few people, bad news befell the team. One of the two dogs they were about to rescue had just passed away. The team had to make haste, or the other might meet the same fate.
The rescue team searched nearby forests, fields, and rice paddies but couldn’t find the dog. They even stayed until evening and placed cameras with night vision capabilities. After two days, the team felt like all hope was lost.
I an unexpected turn of events, one of the rescuers spotted the dog on a nearby road. This happened just as the team was about to leave and give up. They took the opportunity to make an entrapment plan on the spot, knowing that it might be their last chance.
The team couldn’t get too near, or the dog might run away. The concern was not because it might escape, but rather because making the dog run would be bad for its health. The rescuers had to monitor the dog’s movements using their drone.
After a few minutes of planning, the rescuers opted to use the drone to lure the dog into a trap. They had to do it right on their first try. Check out how the plan panned out in the video linked below.
