Stanley, a handicapped chihuahua, finally receives the love and attention he deserves. He’d surely come a long way from being a scared puppy abandoned on the side of a busy highway.
Stanley’s journey to a loving foster family began when he was heartlessly abandoned. The poor dog was dumped on the side of a busy highway in a container that barely fit his body size. Thankfully, his agony ended when a kind stranger called the local animal control.
When animal control promptly arrived on the scene, they found Stanley in a small box. He was then taken to a nearby animal shelter, where they could assess his condition and formulate a treatment plan. While the shelter was safer than a box on the side of the road, it was still not an ideal place for a frightened puppy.
When the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge learned of Stanley’s situation, they welcomed him with open arms. They quickly evaluated him to establish a plan of action to begin his journey to recovery.
Stanley was not only crippled, but he was also 10 pounds heavier than a typical chihuahua. His weight made him immobile, meaning that he would require special assistance to go about his daily activities.
Kathy, Stanley’s new foster mom, has worked at the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge and has years of expertise caring for special pups like Stanley. Stanley was ready to begin his recovery journey due to a compassionate foster mom and the assistance of an incredible rescue organization.
Stanley is currently undergoing a strict diet and training program. He enjoys every minute of his time with Kathy by his side and has a devoted fan base of animal lovers who support him at every step of the way.
It makes us happy to know that a wonderful rescue organization exists to give abandoned dogs a second opportunity. On the other hand, we can’t wait to see Stanley meet his weight loss goals and get his hands on his new wheels.
