There are many arguments in favor of raising rescue dogs instead of purchasing puppies from breeders. The most obvious is that doing this is a more ethical and humane choice. A huge number of abandoned dogs end up in overcrowded shelters, and they all deserve to find their forever home and family.
Also, rescue dogs can become rescuers themselves. After all, those who have suffered possess more empathy towards those that are suffering. That’s what our featured video is about.
Here we have a rescue dog named Roxanne. She’s a black labrador and hound mix raised by Rebecca Burley. One day Roxanne gets the chance to be a rescuer and a hero.
Rebecca works as a school teacher. She’s also a consistent volunteer at the Isle of Wight Animal Shelter from where she adopted Roxanne. One day she was off to the shelter when Roxanne pleaded for a walk outside.
Rebecca gave in. She took Roxanne out, and they went walking on their usual route. On this particular day, however, there was something amiss in the area.
There were lots of police officers there. It turned out that they were in search of a missing woman. One police officer asked Rebecca if they had chanced upon a lady walking in a nightgown.
Rebecca replied in the negative. But she assured the officer that she’d keep an eye out for the missing woman. All the while, Roxanne was listening.
Five minutes later, Roxanne pulled Rebecca toward a ditch. There Rebecca saw the missing woman in a nightgown. She immediately called the police.
The woman was taken to a hospital. Meanwhile, Rebecca was hailed as a canine hero. Here we go back to the argument we raised a while ago.
Rescue dogs could become rescuers too. Roxanne’s awe-inspiring deed is a testament to that.
