Charlie was a pit bull who got abandoned for being too nice by his sixteen-year-old owner who wanted a “status” dog. He wanted Charlie to be aggressive and fierce, which is how people often mistook pit bulls to be.
His owner used to hit and smack Charlie around to toughen him up because he was just too soft for him. Finally, he gave up and left Charlie at a shelter where he met Maaria. Maaria immediately fell in love with Charlie, but lives in the UK where pitbull-type dogs are banned.
Despite the danger of getting found out, Maaria took Charlie while knowing the risks of bringing Charlie to England. Charlie can be put down just because he was a pit bull. To get Chalie home safely, Maaria drove two hundred miles to pick Charlie up.
Maaria successfully took Charlie home but was still worried that Charlie could be taken away from her if they get found out. The two would always get a lot of attention outside because Charlie’s nose was red. She got Charlie a DNA-test and found out that he was a Staffordshire cross Rottweiler, a breed that was not classified as a pittie in the UK. It was to Maaria’s utter relief that Charlie could stay.
However, they still have to deal with a lot of negative attention and stigma. One time, Maaria and Charlie were walking out of a street when a man came up and asked why she has a dog like Charlie which according to him was a killer breed. Despite efforts to reverse this wrong view of pitties, there are still quite a lot of people who believe it. Charlie was a pitbull who broke stereotypes.
Though Charlie loved animals of all shapes and sizes, he has a very soft spot for cats, especially for his brother Darwin. They were best friends and soulmates. Maaria always found them sleeping, cuddling, and playing happily together. Sadly, Darwin passed away. It was quite traumatic for everyone in the house, especially for Charlie.
Luckily, Maaria’s house was full of foster kittens who helped Charlie cheer up and get busy. Charlie is now an introduction dog to all foster kittens that arrive in their care. He is extremely nice and gentle to a fault. Despite what he has been through, Charlie remains to be very loving and forgiving, just like any other dog breed. Charlie is just too nice for his own good.
