When Beans was found roaming the streets of San Francisco, he was starving, dirty, and her fur was deeply matted. Estimated to be 12 years old, the senior pooch was in rough shape and seemed in pain because of his condition. It was clear that he has never received any grooming.
The poor pooch was taken to the local shelter, and it seemed that he was gentle and friendly. But his discomfort and his unfamiliarity with the new surroundings caused him to be timid and uneasy. The shelter staff knew he needed extra care so they got in touch with a nonprofit rescue organization who agreed to take him in.
This is where his transformation started.
Painstaking work
Beans was taken to the facility of the Muttville Senior Dog Rescue in San Francisco. They were more than happy to have him and give him a better chance in life. When the dog arrived in their shelter it so happened that one of their volunteers, a dog groomer, was there that day.
The groomer, a volunteer named Cindy, was more than happy to give the rescue dog a makeover. She quickly took him from her kennel and brought the dog to a workstation. She then assessed the work that is needed to be done.
Bean’s ears were almost caked shut by dirt and fur. His tail was raw because the dog chewed on it a lot. It also seemed that he had a fifth leg. But it was only long matted hair that stretched down from her torso.
For the next couple of hours, Cindy patiently and painstakingly removed the excess hair. She made sure that the dog didn’t feel any pain while she sheared and cut his dirty coat of fur. After that, she gave him a warm and refreshing bath.
A new dog
The makeover was a success. Beans was like a new dog. And it also affected his personality. With the painfully matted fur gone, he was able to move freely, and he became happier.
His character shone right away, and Beans showed how sociable he was. The senior dog was rejuvenated and seemed like a puppy again. With his demeanor, there is a good chance that he will soon find his forever home.
