Senior dogs are often abandoned because they are usually more challenging to care for than younger ones. Some owners choose to surrender their senior dog to a shelter instead of euthanizing it. This is a thoughtful act, especially considering that there are individuals ready to care for older pets.
Ace is an example of an elderly dog that no one wanted to care for. Fortunately, he now has a great parent who is ready and able to care for him.
The foster mother of Ace went shopping for a gift for him — his very own toy. Even though he is old, the manner in which he walks shows that he is still full of energy.
When Ace reached the toy aisle, he examined each section. One could tell by looking at Ace that he is an elderly dog. His movements, however, speak differently. It is as if his mind has not registered that he has grown older.
Eventually, Ace chose a squeaky toy. The foster mother then believed they were done shopping and started heading to the cash register, but Ace had other intentions. It was truly a comical sight that he was anxious to exit the store as soon as possible.
After making the purchase, Ace and his foster mother returned to the car. On the way there, he bit the toy quite heavily. As soon as they entered the car, Ace began playing with his new gift.
Ace is an excellent dog. He is a well-mannered, obedient dog that gets along well with other animals. He can walk with other dogs without difficulty.
Given his advanced age, his foster mother initially considered having him walk a shorter distance each day. He was, however, exceptionally energetic. Ace would always walk in front of everyone. This dog certainly has many more walks ahead of him.
