Senior dogs are not the popular choice for adopters, especially if they are grumpy. They are often overlooked by adopters in favor of younger dogs. Fortunately, a person would come along and specifically choose a senior dog to adopt but these are rare occasions.
A senior dog named Rocky got lucky one day when a man named Josh took an interest in adopting him. Josh saw numerous people lining up to fill out adoption forms for various dogs at the animal shelter. He saw that no one was lining up for Rocky, so Josh decided to be the one to adopt him.
Rocky was underweight at that time when he met Josh. The dog had trouble eating because his teeth were rotten. As a solution, Josh decided to have all of Rocky’s teeth removed. Shortly after that, Rocky was able to eat normally, and he gained several pounds, which put him at a healthy weight.
Rocky is a mix of a pug and a Pomeranian. Josh says the dog was entirely black when they first met, but Rocky gradually developed white fur as he got older. This fur color combination is why people sometimes mistake him for a raccoon or even a cat.
When Josh introduced Rocky to his fiance, she immediately became enamored with the dog. Rocky even became the ring bearer during their wedding. Rocky did his part well, but he got distracted by the guests at the actual wedding because he thought all of them had treats for him.
For a 13-year-old dog, Rocky is very animated and has a lot of quirks. He’s overprotective of his owners and would often snarl at any animal that gets closer to them. The couple likes to describe him as a dog who has a Napoleon complex. Although his flaws are nothing compared to the positivity that he brings to his owners’ life.
