If you’ve ever actually watched Star Wars, then you have a good idea of what a Wookie sounds like. It’s the iconic sound that one of the supporting characters, Chewbacca who is a Wookie, makes to communicate. The distinct sound became so popular that people today are still trying to imitate it. However, one particular dog does it perfectly.
A Pit Bull named Shortcake sounds like a Wookie when she tries to communicate with her humans or to express her excitement. She is an incredibly sweet Pit Bull who just loves getting cuddles from her humans. And, whenever she’s excited about something or when she’s demanding attention from her mom or dad, she would start making the Wookie sound.
Nobody knows how Shortcake learned how to sound like Chewbacca but when Shortcake did it the first time, her parents were so surprised and eventually started laughing. Ever since then Shortcake would make the sound whenever she’s pleased or excited about something. However, Shortcake suddenly stopped making the sound, which worried her parents. At first, they thought that Shortcake might just be feeling a little under the weather but it soon progressed to something much worse.
Shortly after stopping sounding like a Wookie, Shortcake also started to walk strangely. Her face showed signs of pain and distress, which alarmed her humans. There were even days when Shortcake didn’t want to or couldn’t get out of bed. Shortcake’s condition worsened as the days passed. Eventually, it got so bad that she just stopped moving. Fortunately, she was still alive and her owners rushed her to the veterinarian.
Shortcake’s humans weren’t sure what was wrong with Shortcake. The only thing they know about Shortcake was that she had nerve damage on her neck when they adopted her. A neurologist performed surgery on Shortcake to fix the problem. After the surgery, Shortcake’s humans took her home. Shortcake’s family was nervous since they saw almost no change in her condition in the first two weeks after the surgery.
However, Shortcake is a strong and determined girl. One month after Shortcake’s surgery and with the help of physical therapy, she started to show improvements in her mobility. Shortcake eventually started to get up and walk, which made her human mom so excited and happy that she cried.
Shortcake’s humans knew that Shortcake was happy again when she started making the Wookie noises. They knew that it was the sound that Shortcake made whenever she’s happy or excited. Here’s a heartwarming video telling Shortcake’s story and how her humans never gave up on her.
