Hurricane Ida hit and battered Louisiana with winds of 150 miles per hour, and it also brought severe rains. And after nearly two months, Louisianans were still hurting and reeling from the hurricane’s immense impact. Despite this, Louisiana has a story of optimism that involved a dog that survived this terrible ordeal.
While assisting with search and rescue activities, Ryan Mitchell’s crew discovered a dog. Ryan, a captain in the national guard, fell instantly in love with the dog.
They discovered the German Shepherd covered in muck and filthy water. Ryan and his staff were the first to give him clean water. The dog happily accepted it, having had no access to clean water for several days.
Ryan then accompanied the dog to a nearby veterinarian to check the animal’s health. The veterinarian who examined the dog at the clinic ruled out any health problems. Then, Ryan asked the veterinarian if the dog was microchipped. This was done to help him in reuniting the dog with its owners.
However, the dog did not have a microchip. Ryan had no choice but to assume custody of the dog as a result of this turn of events. After all, he was a dog lover.
Since there was no information available about the dog, Ryan gave him the name Caesar. According to the captain of the national guard, the name came from the rescue mission’s callsign.
Before taking Caesar home, Ryan made sure he had adequate supplies. He lavished the dog with treats and toys.
Ryan and his fiancée helped Caesar in overcoming the stress caused by the catastrophe.
The man will take excellent care of Caesar so long as nobody claims him as their pet. However, if Caesar is ever claimed, Ryan will gladly return him to his proper owner. Ryan stated that this will make him sad, but it is the appropriate thing to do.
