When Howl of a Dog first met the stray pup Arnia, the Romania-based non-profit animal rescue group couldn’t believe the state she was in. She was living in a rundown junkyard, sleeping on top of sharp tile pieces on a chilly December day. She was also severely malnourished as she weighed only 13 pounds, half of what a healthy dog her size should weigh.
After earning her trust with gentle pets, her rescuers immediately brought her to their facility to give her a warm meal, a bowl of water, and a relaxing bath. They then accompanied her to a vet to get some insights into her health. Unfortunately, besides being emaciated, Arnia was also anemic and had muscle spasms and intestine infection.
She was pretty scared emotionally, too, as she was still terrified of humans and shied away from any interaction with her rescuers and care team. Howl of a Dog knew she needed more time to recover from the stress of living in the streets. So after she got treated for her condition, her rescuers gave her the space she needed to adjust.
Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Arnia to realize that she was in good hands. She eventually started warming up to people and began wagging her tail in delight. A month after she was rescued from the streets, the pup was almost unrecognizable!
She had put on more weight and had completed her vaccination and treatment for parasites. Her most significant transformation, though, was in her demeanor. You see, she had fully come out of her shell and became an active and fun-loving dog.
In fact, her rescuers share that she has a spirit of a young puppy despite being already two or three years old. To date, Arnia is already up for adoption and waiting for her forever family. Look at the pup’s transformation here.
