Rachel Avery is a devoted dog owner who lives in West Hollywood, California. She has a French Bulldog named Jag that she absolutely adores. And when she lost her pet, she feared that he had become a victim of the escalating theft cases of dogs of that particular breed.
French bulldogs have been the choice for many pet thieves because they are expensive and easy to steal. Their small stature makes it easy to snatch them. The risk is low compared to the high price they can charge for them. One of the more famous cases in this scheme involved the pets of the popular singer Lady Gaga.
Scooped up
Rachel’s dilemma began when Jag slipped off his collar when they were taking a walk one day. Once he was free, the tiny pooch started running away. Footage from security cameras showed the little pup running on the sidewalk through local businesses.
After a while, a man stepped out of a parked SUV and scooped the dog up. He took the tiny pup inside his vehicle then drove off shortly after.
Rachel was stunned when she discovered that someone had taken her dog. She was scared that her beloved pet would be sold off and she would never see him again. After reporting the matter to the Los Angeles police, she offered a reward to anyone who could return Jag.
Cross country
With 5,000 dollars up for grabs, it didn’t take long for someone to come up and give the identity of the person who took Jag. When Rachel talked to the guy, he admitted that he had the dog, but he didn’t steal him. He said that he thought the dog was a stray as he had no collar. He merely rescued him.
After discussing things over, the man agreed to return Jag. But the thing is, he was already back in his home in Pennsylvania. Rachel took a flight as soon as possible and flew across the country to retrieve her pet.
The man met her at the airport and handed Jag over. Rachel couldn’t keep her emotions inside and started crying in happiness. Not long after their emotional reunion, the two were back in their own home.
