Sometimes, you’ll never know what you’ll encounter while you’re on a holiday trip. You may meet your new best friend or the love of your life. And you may even get that rare chance to save somebody’s life.
The latter happened to a group of friends in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. While they were on a boat trip, they spotted someone floating away in the open ocean. Because they really had no time to waste, they knew that they had to act quickly.
Being carried away by the waves
What started out as a casual holiday over the ocean waters turned into a high-adrenaline rescue operation. According to reports, a woman named Byrn Cromwell and her close friends rode a boat to roam the waters of Fort Lauderdale. Then, they discovered a small pooch doing its best to stay afloat in the water.
The group of friends then decided to save the dog. The unexpected rescue operation had been captured on camera. In a clip uploaded to TikTok, you could see a person holding the dog while floating in the water. The duo paddled back to the boat where someone was waiting to help them get on board.
The dog is healthy and fine!
Follow-up clips showed Byrn explaining how she and her pals reunited Zuko, the dog, with his family. Right after saving the pup, the group of friends called the number found in the tag attached to the dog’s collar.
The dog’s owner was crying on the phone upon hearing the news. Nevertheless, he/she was relieved. Then, Byrn and her friends went to the owner’s place to reunite the pup with his family. After the meeting, the group received $300 as a token of gratitude and to cover the boat’s gas costs.
In another update on TikTok, Byrn shares that Zuko is healthy and fine after his ordeal in the open ocean. She also says that the pup’s owners are incredibly thankful for the group’s quick thinking.
