Dogs born with physical disabilities are either abandoned or euthanized. It’s sad to think that these dogs are needlessly euthanized just because of being born with disabilities. Some dogs are born with specific physical disabilities that they can learn to cope with growing up.
We have to remember that dogs are highly adaptable creatures who can continue living even when they become physically disabled. A dog named Pearl was abandoned in a shelter because she was born deaf and blind.
Pearl was almost a perfect candidate for euthanasia, but rescuers saw her energy and her will to live that they decided to post a photo of her on social media. They wanted to see if anyone wanted to adopt Pearl.
The post on social media eventually reached a woman who felt sorry for Pearl. The woman and her husband eventually decided to meet Pearl. A week later, the woman brought Pearl home.
During the first few weeks, the woman was extremely protective of Pearl. Because Pearl was deaf and blind, her new mom would always be afraid that Pearl would get hurt. Each day, Pearl would have a new scratch on her body.
The woman eventually realized that it’s okay for Pearl to get a little scratch every now and then because it’s how she learns. The woman finally stopped babying Pearl, and she was more confident that Pearl would be able to cope and learn about her environment.
Pearl’s mom was also nervous about another thing, which is introducing her to her new doggie siblings. Before Pearl was adopted, her new human parents already had dogs. Pearl’s new mom was worried that if the other dogs didn’t get along with Pearl, they would have to give up on Pearl and give her back to the shelter.
However, soon after they introduced Pearl and their other dog, Pete, they saw that they had nothing to worry about. Pete and Pearl fell in love with each other almost immediately. They didn’t waste any time and started to play in their yard. They would wrestle each other and do zoomies all over the place. For a deaf and blind dog, Pearl was really doing very well.
Despite being deaf and blind, Pearl doesn’t know any different. She loves her life, and she loves playing with her new doggie siblings, especially Pete. Here’s an adorable video showing just how amazing Pearl is despite her disability. Thanks to her amazing parents, Pearl is living the best life she could ever have.
