As dog enthusiasts, we think that all dogs deserve forever homes. Dogs are exceptionally intelligent and devoted to their families. If we treat dogs with the respect and affection they deserve and give them a loving home, they will undoubtedly reciprocate all that.
Unfortunately, there are surely still a large number of canines living in deplorable conditions. Some of these dogs have spent so much of their lives as strays that they have no idea what it is like to be a member of a family. A significant number of surrendered or rescue dogs are euthanized due to their dreadful health conditions.
When Blondie originally arrived at the animal shelter, the employees and volunteers were shocked by her appearance. Blondie was completely bald and covered with scabs that she looked more like a mummified dog. She was also scared of humans, but when it came to those who cared for her, she was cautiously affectionate.
Blondie was lined up for euthanasia because of her physical condition and failing health. Volunteers at the shelter refused to give up on her, and they released a video about her along with a plea for assistance on their social media account. Thankfully, a woman named Caitlin Beal saw the video.
Caitlin is a co-founder of Sky Sanctuary Rescue and is passionate about saving dogs such as Blondie. She acted swiftly and rescued the dog from the kill shelter and brought her home.
Before meeting Blondie, Caitlin was unaware of her true health condition. Blondie was diagnosed with Demodex mange after a quick trip to the veterinarian. This resulted in her losing her fur and developing scabs on her skin.
Blondie warmed up quickly to Caitlin’s other dogs, but she remained wary around people. Caitlin gave her daily medicinal baths for several months.
Blondie soon began to realize that she was in a secure environment after a few weeks, and she started to cuddle with Caitlin, which was a significant step forward considering that she had previously avoided humans.
Blondie’s skin began to recover, and her hair began to grow as a result of Caitlin’s affection and care. Her scabs gradually peeled away, revealing healthy skin underneath. Caitlin could not face the prospect of being separated from Blondie, despite the fact that Blondie was a foster dog.
Caitlin was smitten by the dog. And when Blondie finally was matched with a family, Caitlin ultimately decided to adopt her.
